The Challenge

Our ROV must be able to complete four challenges:

Challenge 1: In and Out
The ROV must be able to steer through a series of hoops. In real life, this emulates the ROV navigating its way through a sunken ship or submarine.
We are given 3 minutes to get through 5 hoops, and one point is given per hoop. Each hoop is 58 centimeters in radius, and this makes a larger ROV more difficult to navigate. This challenge seems to test the drivers abilities to navigate, as well as the ROV's motor controls.

Challenge 2: Fish ID
In this challenge, we will count and ID marine organisms along a transect. This emulates how scientists identify organisms on the sea floor.
Each correctly identified fish grants 1 point. This challenge has potential to be very difficult depending on how many fish there are on the transect, as well as how many fish are available for ID.

Challenge 3: Gone Fishin'
This challenge requires us to pick up marine organisms from the bottom of the pool. This emulates how scientists collect specimens from the sea floor.
Each collected speciman gives 2 points. This challenge requires our ROV to have a system to pick up these objects.

Challenge 4: Operation Fix It
The ROV must be able to put a cap on a pipe. This emulates how ROVs are sometimes deployed to fix leaking pipes, by putting caps on top of the leaks.
Successfully placing the cap grants 10 points, This challenge means that our ROV must be able to precisely pick up and drop a cap by itself underwater. It is possible that we will be able to make the pick up system work for both challenge 3 and 4
